Carrying the Weight
Being a man of a not so large stature...I find it interesting when some men complain about having to spar, grapple, do techniques...etc. against the one big guy in their club or seminar...
I find it interesting because, for most women, that's what they deal with during every training session. Everyone is always bigger and stronger than them.
I look forward to Sparring and Training against Bigger guys. I like carrying weight that is 1.5-2x my size...its hard work but it's worth the physical drain.
Its a physical and a psychological barrier that has to be overcome every training session. Getting over the mountain everyday can be demoralizing to many...but for me...its motivating.
Big athletic guys can be hard to beat, but there is hope for smaller people!
Cheat and be Fast!!
That's why for us smaller people...training eye gouges, headbutts, knees, elbows, lowline kick, biting, environmental weaponary AND Running a really fast 200 meters is critical for our personal training program.
Thats how David slew Goliath...he basically cheated! A simple rock in the forehead can do wonders against a larger opponent.
Speed, when use correctly, can help equalize the strength and weight differential. A good sprint should not be underestimated. Speed is a great, great attribute!
So Stop Complaining!!
So, for you average size guys out there who find it difficult to succeed against the occasional big guy who attends class. Quit complaining...train for speed get some JKDC in your tool box...and remember for some of us...EVERYONE IS THE BIG GUY!!!
